It was a fun day, even if it was the hottest day in Sept since records began

:P :P I think the beer at lunchtime didn't help
I have to say, the international team award for speed detecting goes to Holland

I've always said I detect at a moderate pace but compared to him I'm in the slow club. He showed me a lesson in UK detecting (Slow is NOT best)

He had two hammered, I had one.
Today Dad got the only Roman. I got 1 yesterday in 9 hours & none today in 7. We used to get about 20 a day on this field, maybe we have been sucking most of them off the field
Hi Crusader! It's me, the roadrunner! Although you guys think I search fast, one guy in our club (of 4 guys) even searches faster and finds more than I do most of the time. I don't always search fast.... if I find something interesting I slow down to a creep and search all sounds, iron or not. But I guess I know my detector pretty good and can easily hear if something is good or not. I am not saying I don't miss stuff by moving faster, but if you keep moving your coil within certain boundaries you should hear most of the good signals. I don't always search so fast either, when I have all the time to search, can return the next day and continue, I search pretty slow; then I think much slower than you. But most of the time, especially in the short few weeks in England, I have to keep going and try to the the most out of the time that I have...
Anyway yes, you could have sucked the Romans out of the land, it happens. Takes a few years of intensive searching and sucking them out, but it's a pity, there just aren't any roman guys walking around anymore with holes in their pockets..... so gone is gone. We have done that now a few times also.
Thanks for the pleasure of meeting you and searching (OK, you were biting my dust) with you.....we had a great time!
