I was worn out from yesterday's hunt, but we have rain coming in for a few days so I decided to take advantage of the sunshine today. I dug 21 wheat pennies, about the same amount in clad, a Canadian penny, a Rosie and one super ugly Mercury dime. I need some rest.

Wow... yes Tab that is one unattractive Mercury dime!! I thought... just how bad can it be? Dang it’s been beat, busted, bashed and bruised. You should send that unit in to be graded and see what they say... Ddf.

Still better than the none I dug this weekend.
I’m betting the vdi number was a little low for a silver dime. Am I right?

Looks like it got in a fight with a mower or something. The very first Merc I ever found had a gash similar to that, and it totally obscured the date. Any silver coin is a good coin though!

Yep, you're right! It read a tad lower than a wheat penny, so I was surprised to see silver.
