Looks like around 1950's belt buckle that was probably silver or gold plated. Better than a can! GL & HH

The double prongs on the back were brazed there. There is nothing including the prongs that is ferrous metal. I did a bit of scraping on the edge with and razor knife and it looks brass.

I agree with the others. That is a Boy Scout buckle. They had the very distinct holes in the sides like yours, with a slide bar that grabbed the belt.
