It's a suspender clip.....100%. That style was popular from the late 1870's to about the turn of the century. Good find!

I'm curious why you think it's silver? It doesn't have the look of silver or even tarnished silver. Looks like it might have been plated copper or maybe brass.

I think he's talking about the dime being silver :)
