I love tokens

Here a "Good For 25 cts. In Trade" Token. It was a steamboat built in 1910 and sank in 1915.

I had no idea what it was when I found it, but about 5 minutes of research gave me the answer.







Turns out that these are phone tokens from Turkey, but found in a baseball field in Canada?

I had never seen them before, so I thought that I would post them in your thread.

I think older Tokens really are my favorites, you have this little piece of history in your fingers, and kind of wonder about the place that they came from that is no longer there. Hard to find, some are rare, and always a thrill to uncover. Yours is really nice, a steamboat, built 1910, sank 1915, a really great token.

To add to your history of the 'Owens'.The steamboat R.M. Owens sank in Little Godel Bayou, on Lower Grand River, between Morgan City and Plaqueinine. Owens carried a cargo of 657 barrels and 59 sacks of sugar. The barrel sugars were Camperdown sugars shipped to Mr. E.A. Rainoid of New Orleans, the Oak Bluff Mfg. Co. The bag sugars were Shadyside sugars, shipped to Milliken and Farwelll, of New Orleans.

the older tokens are a reminder to us of history past. they represent coolness in their own way as you research them. I like them because they are history in your hand that you now have. and that is an awesome token from a very short time period. congrats
