To add to your history of the 'Owens'.The steamboat R.M. Owens sank in Little Godel Bayou, on Lower Grand River, between Morgan City and Plaqueinine. Owens carried a cargo of 657 barrels and 59 sacks of sugar. The barrel sugars were Camperdown sugars shipped to Mr. E.A. Rainoid of New Orleans, the Oak Bluff Mfg. Co. The bag sugars were Shadyside sugars, shipped to Milliken and Farwelll, of New Orleans.
