I believe the Gothis leters are U.R.R. of NJ

Pretty sure it's "MRR of NJ" which would match the Midland Railroad of New Jersey. It was a very short lived railroad that was in operation from 1880 to 1881. I can't find any other examples of the button online, but if the railroad was only in operation for a year before being absorbed by other lines it would make sense that it was an extremely rare button. Super cool find!

Paleomaxx may have hit the nail on the head. If so, that is going to be super-rare. Nice condition, sans the back plate.
