Option 1, the 1750 farm (the farmer that is) just cleared the field last night. NEVER BEEN HUNTED. Field comes within 60' of the old house and the house still stands, right at the house the old stuff must be buried deep. And then go to the big coin show in town.

Option 2, the beach where there will be 8-10 foot waves in the next 24 hours. Gold coins, rings with ice, colonial coppers, you name it, it's there.

Farm is 10 minutes from the house. Beach 3 hours. What would YOU do? Inquiring minds want to know.

Send one of my personalities to each

In all reality I would hit the beach the the farm.

I have three days off, I can do both. Farm is over 100 acres. Found a 1794 large cent there last week. It will take a long time to hunt it.

Neither one is going anywhere! Hit them both. frank... 111-1 profile.webp

Are you smoking the Devil's Lettuce? Dig man, dig. :laughing7:

Odd thing at the farm, on one hillside found bunch of forged nails, some 6"long, with NOTHING ELSE within 100'. Ideas?

Hunt where you gut tells you. If its the farm take a hunting buddy or two with you. You can cover both. HH where ever you go! Remember we want to see pics! Post them!

On that hill, someone might have burned some used lumber or crates, or an outhouse caught fire....
GO to farm, dig,dig,dig.

Id say....Get teh hell of the computer and hunt them now!..lol....Thats nice ot have prime spots to choose from....My hunting is usally " What Park didnt suck as bad last time i was there"

Since the farm has never been hunted, I give the nod to the farm.

They just cleared the field closest to the house. That 's for tomorrow am.

I say you need help, and we are all here to help.

Let's do a group hunt and then a BBQ at the old farm!

Since both sites require some form of digging , you have not presented us with a decision that you need help with - you said to dig or not to dig ? ,
I'm going to guess that you were intending to ask us "which of these two sites would you rather hunt first ?" ( it also sounds like you have repeated
access to both sites ) Not intending to be annoying , rather- attempting to clarify your question .

Since you are having trouble deciding, invite all of us to help and both site will be hunted at the same time. It would be best to have plenty of beer and food on hand.

You are invited to the beach. To access the farm, you might have to teach ol' Mcdonald to spell, I love that commercial. And yes, WHICH place to dig is the question, but it's the farm first because that ground will more likely freeze and the beach will not. I did identify some of the nails using Ivor Noel Hume's book on Artifacts of Colonial America as mid to late 18th century. So where's the coins, but seriously there is 300 years of trash in the fields, it may take awhile to get down to the relics.

Here's a close up of the minie ball from the field last week.minie.webp

When the old settlers moved on , they would burn the cabin and then salvage the nails. Probably never got them all. 6", sounds like a cabin. Frank...
