Found this nodule in the yard with these two spots on the broken side, it's about the size of a silver dollar...what do you guys think?

Not entirely sure. The interior section resembles petrified wood

...petrified wood Ninjafossils, don't know if it is? Someone told me it looks like "rugose coral"...know anything about that?

Your informant, kat, was probably thinking "solitary coral." There are two major divisions of corals, RUGOSA and TABULATA. Many, if not all, solitary corals are rugosids; but, not all rugosids are solitary.

I cannot detect a radiating pattern that would indicate that these are cross-sections of solitary corals. Maybe you can see better with some magnification. My best guess at this point is that these are mineral inclusions.

Hi Harry, always nice to have you pop in! Oh...so minerals, OK....when I looked at the pics of the solitary coral (rugosa) they sort of looked like it, but guess only "sorta" lol....still learning! Thank you for the lesson. :icon_thumleft:
