But, of course, the best laid plans and all that, just didn't work. :dontknow:

That stubble is TOUGH! AND resilient!! Every time I swung the knives would just stick in the stalk and I had to pull the head back out! ;)

Anyway, I stumbled around for almost 5 hours today, since it was so nice out. BOY! I am BUSHED!!!

With all the "wonderful" "interesting" finds, I kinda wonder if it's worth all this! :( Of course, after the next 1700-1800's coin, button, find, I'll be all back at it again. LOL

Here's the take:

IMGA2835.JPG

The tiny little duck band looking thing is a puzzle to me. It's non-magnetic. Pretty much came out as you see it but that's not the puzzle. I've seen duck bands before but this one has a number engraved along with a full address. The address is not of any organization but rather of a private dwelling. Now, why would they do that? ??? A duck license? LOL

IMGA2836.JPG
I am finding a LOT of these little canister looking things/bullets. Strange?

The spoon says ARCH DOUGHERTY & SONS. (I think)

I've REALLY been knocking the gold and silver finds lately. 1 gram earring last time, then this stud. I don't know if you can read it in the pic but the shaft is actually marked with 925! I'm more impressed by that then the whole earring! LOL I wonder, would they be putting real pearls on a silver post? :dontknow:

Thanks for taking a moment to indulge a very tired soul! :)

HH!

Nice finds. keep on hitting the fields. I wait until they have been plowed in when I can. I prefer hay fields but take what I can get.

To discover if a pearl is real, rub it gently on your front teeth! :laughing7: If it feels gritty, its a real pearl, if it feels smooth, it is not real! Sounds silly, but it works!

Still some nice finds. I was wondering if a hybrid metal detector/line trimmer would work. The techniques we use are somewhat similar. :laughing7:

My best answer for corn field hunting is just be patient, my friend. lol Work a row at a time and get as close to the stalks as possible. It's tiresome but it's better to take it slow and grid out sections anyway!

Aw heckfire, I ain't sad about my hunt today. I was out in a beautiful day doing what I love! That's what it's about for me. The finds come when they do, that won't stop me. :)

I knew field hunting can be tough same as any other place. Can't tell ya how many times I've come up dry on a park, school, church, etc. No matter where we hunt, it's still about walking "OVER" the targets. Research can give you the best edge but even "knowing" stuff just has to be someplace, doesn't mean you'll find them. :)

Thanks for the encouragement and the response!

If it is a duck tag, why would it have a full, private address like that, to tag the ones they shot? :dontknow: :)

By the way, were you just swinging the coil without the machine on? Because wouldn't the blades you know, cause interference? lol

search the full adress on the tag and maybe what the tag was for will become clear. some thoughts carrier pigeon tag, domestic waterfowl farm, or maybe even a trap tag or something.

There is a guy around here that raises pheasants and releases them into the wild and i've heard that his birds have a tag on them similar to yours except his has a phone number not an adress.

I'd probably say racing pigeon tag. My dad used to race them.
