I used a friend's Minelab SOVEREIGN today ~ dug two wheats cents
My buddy Ron bought a near mint Minelab SOVEREIGN a few weeks ago. He mainly uses an Explorer SE. Today we met at a local park and he let me use the SOVEREIGN. After a few minutes of explaining it to me I was off on my own with it. This was a real change for me ~ I've been a White's guy for the last 14+ years. The detector I use now is a Spectrum XLT ~ I bought it used in 1999. I love the XLT ~ I've found lots of treasures with it over the last eight years.
I'm not about to give up my XLT, but I sure liked how that Sov worked! The second coin I dug was a 1957-D Wheat cent. After a couple hours using the Sov I dug a key, three clad quarters, four clad dimes, one nickel, four memorial cents, and two wheats 1957-D and 1940. Not a lot of treasure, but not too bad for the first time using a totally different detector than what I'm used to!
I'd like to hear from other's that have used both the XLT and the Sov ~ tell me your opinion!
