I went out hunting injuns today! 10-04-06

I went out with Lee and Larry again today. I covered a lot more uncovered ground today and pulled out four more indian heads and a cool old button. The years on the indians were: 1881, 1896, 1902, & 1907.

Another guy came out and hunted with us today.... don't ever want to hunt with him again. He has been hunting since 1992 and doesn't carry a pouch with him. He just throws his trash in the direction of the closest tree. He also probes for his finds with his sharp pointed knife. He gets a signal and just stabs at the ground until he finds it.

Took a crappy picture since they were still a bit wet from cleaning them, oh well, you get the idea of what I found, haha.

Those are the best hunting buddies. Unless of coarse you don't find anything. It's always better when at least someone finds something. Do they ever get frustrated that you are doing so good and they aren't ?

Nice find on the injun tribe. I have yet to find anything before 1900. Unfortunately I have known a couple of people like you have mentioned. I dont carry a pouch either, but that is because I use pants with cargo pockets, the keepers go in my shirt pocket, my tools and larger keepers in my left cargo pocket and the trash in the right cargo pocket.

I'd love to find an indian one day but that ain't gonna happen while I'm in Germany. I dang sure can't imagine finding that many. Great stuff and I hope you make your goal.....but leave me one out there somewhere.

Lee is still learning his new explorer that he recently purchased used off of ebay. He would probably be making more finds, but the only coil that came with it an 800 coil which I think is supposed to be 8" but is probably closer to 6", so he is losing some depth plus it is harder to cover much ground with a coil that small.

Larry..... well hmm.... he started detecting in the early 70s along with Lee and they both have AMAZING finds from these parks that we are still hunting. He just recently got back into it after taking many years off and bought a Garret Ace 250. He couldn't get the depth that I was getting so he bought another machine... a mid range bounty hunter. Don't ask me why.... So he doesn't find much in these parks with those two machines simply because they aren't capable of finding the stuff I am finding. When I show him a deep coin neither machine recognizes it as a coin.

I'm beginning to wonder if those lumberjacks glued they money to their skin. They sure didn't lose many coins at the sites I'm hunting.

I must admit that out of all the US coins I see on this forum the Indian Head is my favourite - not too long ago I was scrounging around in an old tin of coins my dad gave me about 15 years ago and found a few US coins such as a US 5 cent coin from the 1868 but some dang fool (can you say dang on this forum ) has put a hole in it. The other surprise was this little beauty
