Found this rather nice point today in a rock shelter in Eastern Kentucky. It's not the usual Adena that I usually find, thank goodness. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks 37, it does appear as if the base is snapped. If it in fact had a base, it would have been a very small one, just a tad over 1/4 in length. Does the attached picture help in regard to the base?

1320 - I haven't settled on whether they were made that way or broken like that but I found 6 or 7 points that are literally identical to that piece in western KY. Snapped base Kirk's is what they're usually called but I think they're actually late Archaic. I have no support for that stance.

here is one me and my buddy found, looks like the same ears, he has many like that and the bases are a stem like a adena. oh yeah kentucky shelter too

YES!!! KIRT, CORNER KNOTCH, WITH SNAPPED BASE AND LOOKS LIKE IT WAS SEARREATED AT FIRST, TO MUCH CUTING MEAT OR SAWING BONE TO MAKE BEADS... looks like they used this point to make outline or shadow as i call it..... T.
