Its a base to a point I have plenty to show but Ill do one. Yours is made from quartzite and a keeper in my book seeing I have plenty.
Here is a example of another half 2 tips. I have so many different halves and no matches.
And here is a whole point.

Thanks for the response Rock, however could you explain what a base to a point is? Don't know much about these artifacts and not sure what you mean. Thanks!

The base of the point is the longer stem on the point that you have. The base attaches to the arrow or spear. That type of rock looks like it would be nasty to flint knap. Not sure what it is.

You got the bottom half of a Savannah River projectile point.

Ok now I think I see it, this is actually broken and the point is missing.

Thanks for the information.

Found this while MD'ing in the corn field. have found an arrowhead in this location of the same type of rock. Is this a tool? Or maybe just a rock?

Thanks for looking and any help.

Found on the eastern coast of Virginia, not eastern shore.

SouthVA. You are in my area. I'm just over the South Boston and Danville line. Looks like sugar quartz. It's a rough quartzite from my understanding. You live far from Buggs Island? My avatar is a pic of that lake.

Actually I'm about 3 hours from you in the Hampton Roads area.

It may just be a broken point but it still is a good find:thumbsup:

That projectile was quite large. Nice artifact base!!
