Ideas on good spots In Western Pa, near Pittsburgh

Are there any good places for a Newbie to start hunting near Pittsburgh?

I'm from the Greenville area, there was a gold panning place out 358 towards Ohio turn left on S. Barry Rd. where the dip is then it's about a 1/4 mile down on the right.
Not sure if they are still working it though it's listed in the gpaa.
