It has a perfectly flat base and can sit upright as it’s being held.
Found in an area likely to have had Native American activity.
Not much of a bowl. Could it have been in the process of being made?
Would it serve a function as is, or is it just a rock?

No, its an artifact, possibly a hammer stone or game ball, would need to see the other side.

looks like a mortar.

It was found on a flat where people would have gathered.
The bottom side is simply ground perfectly flat.
Don’t have a picture of the bottom, but will upload one tonight.
That would be really neat if it was a game piece.

It definitely rolls good. That’s what led to it being found.

I really really, like that piece Im thinking mortar if that base is flat ground, i would do some more looking in that area.

A mortar in the making what part of the country was it found ? It took years of use and then they would wear through or break.

Nice mortar , you can see a lot of grinding done on the top of it ..... it’s a good find I would look closely around that area for other artifacts , good luck
