IDing flint / chert types

There is a book. I’ll try and find the name. It’s something like “Chert types of the eastern US”. It’s by Tony DeRegnacourt. I had a copy and gave it to a friend. It has quite a few of the types that are out there. The Buffalo Museum of Science has a chert library. It’s put together by Jack Holland. RIP. I helped him locate two different sources in IL years ago. It’s extensive and covers all 50 states.

Thankyou Gary! I've often wondered about how a person determined what type / name of flint or chert and who typically used it ! This is fascinating information to know ! And all of the information to be able to do this ! And then knowing this info to be able to assist a person in , what ,where ,why ,when and all of that line of questions. Thanks for your help in doing so !

Wow! It must be out of print. I gave my copy to a friend. If it’s worth that much I think I’ll try to get it back.😊
