If a bank teller asks why are you buying so many halves, what do you say?

Friday I went to a BOA that I have ordered boxes of halves from before nad they said they wouldn't do it anymore. Something about a new system. I told them that if I can't get halves from them anymore then I'll just have to start giving them my rejects. Monday they get the better part a box.

yeah I have 3 accounts with this bank and they still said no,The teller that i see sometimes told me that they had a problem with a coin roll hunter,He kept returning them to the same bank so apparently some idiot (whos never read this forum)ruined it for the rest of us.I still dont understand the excuse "we dont order coins" ....So how do you get them????

I have no problem (yet) getting halves at my BofA. Do you mark your halves? We are close enough for me to start getting your rejects. :-[

I've had good luck in the past from another BofA, actually my 2 best boxes ever, but from this branch only so-so boxes. One was interesting thou. It didn't have much silver but the youngest coin in the box was 1997. Thoungt I would try again but they don't want to sell me a box any more. OH well.

I occasionaly mark some coins. Did a whole box once giving JFK a blue shirt. Also sometimes mark Independence Hall on the 76 coins in various ways. I usually sell my coins to Wash. Mutual or Santa Barbara B&T. Sometimes to BofA.

I think there is another CRHer somewhere in the east side of Ventura county. I've hit his rejects over in Simi Valley but not to much around me. I only occasionaly hunt loose coin and only in a few banks that have done good for me in the past. Mostly just do boxes. 2 or 3 a week. and only halves.

Do you have an account at WaMu (as they like to call themselves)?

I don't, but that is where I got the customer rolled halves last Saturday where I got 2.5 rolls of silver out of 15. They are a different type of bank. No thick glass walls to talk through, just little teller islands with all cash transactions (including coins) paid out by a machine.

If you don't have an account do they accept your returns with a ;D ?

coin collecting looking for missing coins.

But i only buy 1-2 rolls at the time so not many questions comes up

Dan, Yes I have an account with WaMu. It along with my credit union are the establishments that I do my regular banking thru. Not all branches have those islands(yet). They are actually a Savings and loan not a regular bank so when they turn in or order coins, it has to be thru a regular bank(I think they use Union bank). I think the same might be said of Credit Unions but I'm not sure. What does this mean to CRHers? I'm not sure, just another stop between the Armored car Co.s and my boxes.

If I was going to start this all over again, say by moving to another area, I would do a lot more research into which banks use which coin depositories so as to lessen the chance of seeing the same coins over again. Also I would mark some coins differently that go to different banks so if I did see one again I would know where it came from.
