Help me with this, I just dont get it. Please do not misconstrue my comments, or think that I am being outright facetious, that is not the case. What is the object of ignoring a user? If the ignorer is the poster of a new topic, and has someone on ignore (I shall refer to this someone as the ignoree), does that mean the ignoree cannot respond to the ignorer's post outright? Is that it? Or, the ignoree cannot PM the ignorer? Or both? And vice-versa? I'm just guessing, I really dont know the power of ignore, it's true essence. But I guess if you dont play well with someone, you get ignored? You disappear from the ignorer's Tnet world? Is there a user's guide to ignore on Tnet somewhere? I once had a mod on ignore by accident, and he was popping up right after all my posts, even on ones I started new (which is the kicker, I'll never understand that). So, he's on my ignore list (I swear I don't know how I did that, and at the time, I was
--deleted-- {ignor-ant}of knowing that anyone at all was on my ignore list), and he, the ignoree mod knew it was me all that time, and could respond to my post. What a kick in the nether regions! Wow, it was like double jeopardy or something, what the frik is going on? Did he have special anti-ignore mod powers? I bet he did (he was DigginThePast, holy crap!). He was uptight (is that an appropriate word?) about being ignored by someone (me) that was
--deleted-- ignor-ant of the ignoring in the first place. Heck, I like DigginThePast! I felt like crap for days after that, I was bewildered and was drinking a bit too much over it all. Now it seems that no ignorees can tell who their respective ignorers are. What a gas. Interesting. It's all a bit too much for me. Can the ignored person know who is ignoring him or not, and if so, then what? What power does ignore have? Ethically speaking, should an ignored party (the ignoree, not the stupendous beer bash you missed out on this summer) be able to know who is ignoring him or not? The topic seems like such a transcendental mind twister and I just dont think I'll ever understand it. Anyway, a bit of a while ago I posted a new topic about my little ignore incident in the About This Site page, called "user is currently ignored", and it was a smashing hit with about 5500 views. Ignore is something not to be taken lightly I guess, and something that certainly should not be ignored. Is that a fair statement?
PS by the way, the word ingnor-ant is largely viewed as insulting. Truly it is a powerful word that in the correct context has good meaning, and in the incorrect context is insulting. Take me for instance, I am ignor-ant of the whole matter, and you can call me ignor-ant, and it would not bother me. It's all about ignore. When you are ignored, you are ignor-ant. Now that is as simple as it gets.
