ok fellows today I found a 1967 dime and next to it was an arrow head up at our cabin... I think I will hit the logging camps pretty hard this fall and some old beaches...any other ideas that anyone can think of...chime in Minnesota.....here is the pic of the arrow head...it is not knife river and not the best condition but it's a find...this is my 2nd one I have found...I would like to get a dozer and take off the 1st. 14" of top soil but I do not want to ruin the grass...

thanks,
Gary

Cool find, good luck with that new detector and looking forward to your future postings !

with the new excitement comes new finds, now you just need to put that new detector to work for you.

Lots of competition in and out of the water - our seasons are just so short that everyone hits it hard. Water in summer is best for recent drops of clad and jewelry. Older coins are hard to find, my best luck has been shorelines in late fall when the water has dried up a bit and the leaves are down. You can get under bushes and trees then that can't be reached in summer. Good luck.

Start diggin into old maps. I've attached one of Hennnepin County. Are there any parks or woods around the condo complex that replaced the old Excelsior Amusement Park. This could be a great area to hunt. You could try the Museum of Lake Minnetonka to see if they have old maps and photos of the area.

Maybe a nice aerial shot from 1947 would help. NETR Online ? Historic Aerials
There are lots of ways to find great old spots.

I've hunted several farmyards in S. Minnesota. New Prague area. Great finds and friendly people. Good luck.

thank you susan...I may try that...

Gary
