I'm in- Excalibur II

Well, I sold my Tesoro SandShark today, (allot of digging with that unit) and ordered my Excalibur II. I am a happy Camper, should have it by Friday if shipping goes well.... JOe

The Sand Shark was deeper, but not by much and the lack of digging all that iron will produce more time for the good stuff not counting the saving of the old back. If you've never used a Excal before, forget trying to remember what all the sounds mean at first, as only large iron will sound off while the stuff you were digging with the PI will null and the threshold will come back as a different tone. Don't worry about the threshold tone sounding "funny," just go on searching, it doesn't affect performance and will return to normal. If it bothers you, wave the coil over the scoop.

Thanks SandMan, Looking back on all the tips now for the unit. With my SandShark, I was digging all, everything from a small star washer to small pieces of wire to bobby pins,,,, and you all know what I mean...

Congrats joel On the the new MD .. The Excal is a great MD .. Your gonna love it .. I went today use the Sandshark ... Im fortunate that there's not a lot of garbage in the water down here where I hunt..... Targets I got were very deep today . usually If I get a good signal in the water its pretty good target. I would never use a PI in the dry NO WAY.... Well good luck with the New excal ... can't wait to see your first gold ring. Guzz1

Its here, its together, I didn't even charge the Batt. (well, I only tried it for a few min.) Now its in the middle of the dinning room table, at least until the wife gets home from work, and the batt will be charged over night...
I'm like a kid at Christmas.........at 50yrs old.

Dig all tones that you give you a solid signal sweeping E to W and N to S, you will learn the Excal faster this way. A good signal will be a good signal both directions. If it nulls then gives you a slight chatter there is a good chance you have a target near the iron.

If it becomes unstable and appears to be falsing a lot, turn the sense down till it is stable. Don't be concerned about turning it down too low.

The toe and heel of the coil is the sweet points, when you get a signal back the coil up and move it forward slowly, when it first sounds off again the target will be directly below the toe or heel depending on what side you approching the target with the front or back of coil.......I use this method and I never have to bother to take the time to switch to pinpoint.

If you dont have a straight shaft get one, and I also suggest you get a harness. I can swing mine all day long if I choose when I use the harness and I get no arm pain. I neck mount my controls and I still use the harness.

Talk about making us all envious, seriously from all my research, the excalibur is the detector i'll be getting one day, i'm going to save all my clad and jewellery finds till I can get one too. I wish you the best of luck with it, I just know your going to love it!

Thanks all, battery is all charged and I'm ready to go.
Playing around with it locally but, my next full fledged beach run will be 3rd week in June in NJ. Keep you all posted.
