I'm thinking musket ball, but...

The thing seems huge. The brown stuff rubs off leaving white. Here it is pictured with a modern quarter.

Looks like one. I've dug bullets in the woods that have the same type brown crud on them. Clean it off and there should be a white patina under it, but I think it is a musket ball. Tennessee digger

Yeah it definitely has the white coating to it. Was almost my only find on an old cartway.

It seems like a big one to me. A little roughed up, yet still round and lead. Any thoughts on the date? The trail predates muskets, even so could be anything.

It could also be a pumpkin ball, round balls that were used as slugs in shotguns.

Maybe..this seems too old and crusty though

Flintlock muskets at .70 are typically 1700s That is what I would date it as. late 1700s.

Whoa

Better picture here after a ten minute
