Hello, here is one of my favorite ghost stories. It involves a Ghost guard ship encountering something that challenges everything we know about reality. (This story is from Ghost Ships by Richard Winer.
(this is a shortened tale because i type with only two fingers)
the U.S. coast guard cutter, Yamacraw, was north east of the Bahamasat a heading of 165 degres. Suddenly, the radar operator yelled out "Land Mass Dead ahead!" The captain said that was impossible because they were nowhere near land, so he had a look for himself. A huge think wall some unknown substance that stretched east to west for as far as the eye can see. Also, the top was not visible. The boat came to an idle next to the mass and turned on the powerful search lights. The mass seamed to be floating about a foot above the see and to be conposed of a brown-ish dust. The captain took a bold move and turned the ship into the impossible mass. The air was filled with a fine dust. unlike a dust storm at sea, the air did not move at all. Visibility was zero, the ship's steam engines were failing, and the men were groping around blindly in the irritating dust. The radar was filled with a green clutter and the powerful spotlight was almost invisible. Then, all the sudden, it stopped. The men, fascinated by this watched the mass for quite a while. When sunlight shone on it, the fog was seen as a wall with definite straight lines that are impossible in nature, however, the top still couldn't be seen. Then, it vanished.
So what can this be?
Land? you can't sail through an island
Dust storm? Dust storms don't stand still nd don't move. Also they don't form an impossibly large wall.
A lie? Highly unlikely for an entire ship to lie and have no one leak the truth.
No one has yet to discover what this mass was, how it got there, or what caused it.
