In My Young And Stupid Days I would....

The fact that you have lived—and survived—for so long shows us that you are not stupid, but rather highly capable of learning.👍😊

Survived by the grace of God. Was on KC 135 flying between Okinawa and Florida when a door window blew out forcing pilot to dive to 10,000 feet so we could breathe, KC 135s have no oxygen masks and only 9 windows total in cargo area,

KC135 has a cargo area easily capable of holding a bowling alley, with enough room left over for a gallery of spectators. The cargo area is almost 11 feet wide, 86 feet long and 7 feet high: the equivalent of 220 automobile trunks. Our seats were fold down harness seats.

Airforce used them to transfer airforce troops on TDYs assignments.

On another flight we lost an engine, we had to divert to Guam, all I thought was crap if we go down here we are in the middle of the Pacific and lots of sharks. We made it to Guam and and switched planes to different KC135...

You mean like learning NOT to stick your hand in an old mower when the reel is turning?

One of the dumbest things the younger me did was drive my 20+ year old Corvette somewhere past where the speedometer was pegged at 165mph, after a little engine modification but not having thoroughly checked out all the running gear.

I did that w a Z28 one night. No way I could see the speedometer. Gives me chills now at almost 60 . Freaking fool. I predict I hit 140.

And thats the first time i ever repeated that story . Wisdom and knowledge equal control. I had no wisdom, had the knowledge to drive. I was not in control.

If I had to pick one that scared me most it would be homemade fire cracker lol Police stopped my friend and I for lighting fire crackers off it was the 4th of July and he let me keep one pack so I decided to make a big fire cracker using a spent 45 Auto casing I took the powder out of the crackers and packed it in tight then pounded something in the other end.I don't know how I was able to get a hole started but it worked and started pounding a fuse hole next thing I herd was a loud ringing in my ears and my radio sitting on my desk blew apart looked at my fingers that was holding the 45 and started to cry I was 15 at the time one finger looked like a peeled banana one finger mush the primer went through the inside of my thumb and blew my entire thumb nail off. Those were the days lol. Oh one more thing guess who took the police report because a bullet wound happened yep the cop that took our fire crackers away. He felt bad for me while in the ER and said bite the bullet he knew it was painful.

dang. I don't have a big share of adventures (yet?) but reminds me of one time when I put dry ice inside of a plastic soda bottle wanting to explode it. I threw it outside and closed the glass sliding door, but after a few minutes, nothing happened. Thinking It wasn't going to work, I went outside to retrieve the bottle and try again. Bad choice. When I grabbed it, 'BOOM!' the thing exploded. Thankfully the hand was fine but it made my hearing feel wierd for a few hours.

Oh, I just remembered another crazy one. Since 2018 I wanted to summit Mount Whitney. The first three years (I tried once per year) we failed but that's a long story (hailstorms, mountain altitude sickness, etc) but the fourth year, we finally made it. Hardest thing I ever did. But I was not in my right mind when we were at the summit (I was a little altitude sick) and as we made it to summit, a lighting storm was rolling in. I stood on the highest point of the highest mountain in the lower 48 and Raised a metal sign over my head for a picture 🤣

I'm really glad I didn't get struck by lightning.

I bought 1970 Roadrunner in late 1969, I got it up to 125, then I felt the front end lift, and I backed off, never drove it that fast again.

I use to do same thing with Iron pipes, cap on one end, drilled hole for firecracker fuse left other end open and packed it with black powder fron the firecrackers. Back then we could get M-80 and Cherry bombs. 80 grains of flash powder in a M-80, packing and then bearings, or marbles as cannon ball.

Put a cap on both ends it was a pipe bomb.

I might add I grew up on 10 acres in the country, back then no video games, computer, cellphones we didnt even have tv remote, I was the remote...To entertain us we had 3 channels on 15" B&W TV, plus 1 UF channel, I had my bike and my transistor AM radio for entertainment, plus hunting, fishing and camping and our imagination.

Now, as I read these stories and various memories come flooding back, I thank God that my grandfather was well aware of the foolish things I was up to.
But instead of scolding me or forbidding me from doing such things, he chose to explain which mistakes to avoid and how to get out of dangerous situations in one piece—or, at least, mostly in one piece.
Aside from a few scrapes and broken bones, everything is still intact. Thanks Grandpa. 👍😊

I've definitely found my tribe in y'all.
Allegedly...my brothers and I would blow up red ant piles with homemade firecrackers the size of large carrots made from FFFF black powder, newspaper and cannon fuse.
I had previously bullied the youngest brother one day and as l was assembling a firecracker, he threw a match over my shoulder and into the pile of powder. Singed all my facial hair and gave me flash burn. Had to soak my face in ice water for over a week for the pain. And got very short bowl haircut that was a great reminder for a while.

5 of us (3 passed out) were in buddy's /72 Charger. 440 Mag.13.1
Buried the speedometer
Drifting (hyroplaning)from one side to the other and back again on the highway.
Alex looked over at me and said:
"We'll never know"
I simply replied:
You're right......

Footnote: Years ago my brother (4yrs older) and myself counted over 40 school mates that "never knew".

In the spring of 1969 from a 5 mile stretch of highway we collected 125 dozen empty beer bottles.
