Indian Hammerstone?

My husband found this huge stone on the Blue Earth river near our home. The river was quite low because of dry spell and we find many items that otherwise would be below many feet of water. I had already put my camera away and was packing up our supplies when came across this, though I will never forget the look on his face with excitement over this find....like a little boy on Christmas morning who just got his most wanted gift!!! This is the reason for me finding this site, but I really would like more information on who would have made this, what it was used for and how old it might be. Any information would be appreciated!! It is 17 1/2" diam. in length and 15 5/8" diam. in width. The smallest point of groove is 1 1/8" wide and 1 3/8" at widest point, it weighs aprox. 7 1/4 pounds!

Sounds good we like seeing other peoples finds. Gives some of hopes, like me. I look and look but just cant seem to find that many GREAT artifacts.

You are right Rock. Seeing the pics add a little light to my spirit as well. I had kinda lost my mojo. Been fishing when work hasn't had me tied down. I'm ready for the winter water drop on my favorite lake!! Fish and hunt artifacts! If you don't like that.... Something's wrong!

I hear you Rusty. Been so busy here I haven't hunted in two or three weeks. Hoping to get out soon. Hate it when real life gets in the way of fun life. Ha.

We just got some rain today hopefully it shook something out for me when I can go again. I got called for jury duty

NC field hunter, you are right about fishing and hunting....the day he found this, he had already gotten his limit of walleye within an hour!!! We had an awesome day all around!!

Rock, thats so funny, cuuz my husband and I both got called for jury duty from May - August....I had to go in once, but his number didnt even get called!! I didnt make the final group but it sure was interesting for my first time on jury duty!

I got to call Sunday and see if the recording says I have to be there or not. I hope it says not!
