Awesome - Congratulations !
I wonder if it was used as a normal target or thrown
and shot in the air as in the movies they did
Thanks for sharing it.

Nice find. My brother and I both found wheaties with bullet holes on the same hunt. Never an indian head though. Much more cool.

Tnet member Hill Billy posted a Shield Nickel that had been shot earlier this year.

I've only found shot wheats, though.

Cool!

I have a wheat that was shot, But I think the older the better

Are you sure it was shot and not drilled?? I have heard stories of large cents being drilled and used as washers. In fact I have even found one. If you have ever tried to shoot a coin, it does not stay flat, it usually gets misshapen from the force of the bullet hitting it. Your coin looks very flat which to me would indicate it was drilled and maybe not shot. Just my thoughts, I could very well be wrong. Nice find anyway. Kip...:)

Nice find & not far from my neck of the woods . From the first picture, it almost seems that hole
has some melted edges around it . It seems the metal was hot enough to run & it's doubtful that
drilling would cause that.

Nice find but i do believe your coin is drilled. Here is what a bullet hole looks like.

hey thanks for everyones interest and comments. Yeah not sure if its drilled or shot now. When I first saw it I thought it was a washer, but after seeing it was an IH, my first impression was shot not drilled and it is concaved a little bit. I added a couple more pics of the side. thanks again, Josh

Im thinking shot, but up agienst something Like a board or something, the whaeat i dug that was shot was pretty concaved.

IT LOOKS TO ME THAT THERE WAS ONE MAD COWBOY WHO HATES INDIANS MIGHT OF GOT HIS BUTT BEAT..LOL NICE FIND..
I DO HAVE SEVERAL DOZEN COINS WITH HOLE IN THEM THAT THE INDIANS USED TO WEAR,, BUT THAT IS A PRETTY BIG HOLE. NOT SURE VERY INTERESTING. THANKS FOR THE LOOK.

that's what sheet metal looks like , when applying great pressure trying to make hole with dull drill bit, experience in Automotive repair field tells me that. Just a WAG on coins.

must of been carrying it in his pocket before he got shot. Bullet must have went right through the coin.
