Info on closing off public lands

Does anybody have first hand knowlege of cases where the BLM or USFS heve been forced to stop gating or in any way closing off public lands either by court order or any other way. I'm getting more & more pi$$ed of at all the yellow gates I see on hiway 6 between Portland and the coast here in NW Oregon
