Does anyone have any idea of where to get information on Plume Holders that went on top of American Military Shakos. I just found one this weekend. It is about three inches high. Has a 3/4 inch ball at the bottom with a small hole in the bottom, and sunbursts or bombursts going up about two inches with and american eagle on the front facing right with wings spread and up, and the US shield in the middle. The right talon is holding an olive branch and the left three arrows facing out. There is a single star directly over the eagle's head. I believe that it is made out of pressed brass. I have only been able to find pictures of a British one which is simular in shape, but without the eagle and it dates from about 1815. This was located in an area which was used during the war of 1812 as a mustering area. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Sorry, I don't have a very good camera...Lance :?:
