Years ago, someone posted a website that lets you put two maps, that you have downloaded, side-by-side. You would put a mark on one map, and it would automatically transfer to the other map. For instance, I had a map of the area from 1868, and a map from today side-by-side. I would mark where the interstate ran through on today's map, and it would automatically mark it on the older map. Does anybody know what website I would be referring to? It was very helpful and I know other people would use it also.

and found Google Earth map overlay (Apr 15, 2013, 01:00 PM) - maybe this is what you are looking for...
 

Historic Aerials has a few new tools that can do some similar things. Just got updated...
 

You could try Maprika. It uses google maps and a picture of your other map. You will have to do some work to get the maps to align. It can also be used on your cell phone or tablet.
