Hello everyone! I recently inherited this artifact collection from my great uncle who found all these in the southern ohio area in the 60s. I have no idea what they are worth or how old they are and any help would be appreciated! The largest of the arrowheads measures 3.5" and the axe heads also measure around 4" long....incluided a lighter for size reference. Thanks!

I thought someone should mention several of the points and the grooved axe are likely archaic in age and could be close to 8,000 years old.

Certain styles of manufacturing occurred during different time periods.
Use your computer to search the term " Projectile point typology"
And Mabey also the name of your state followed by the words projectile points and I'm sure you will find info to help you learn about these very nice pieces of your relitives collection.
I'm sure he was very proud of them and would be very happy to know you are too.
This site doesn't have alot of info. But is very user friendly for beginners and will give you some general ideas that you could research further on your own.

Im not too good on prices for Hard Stone cause I dont collect them much but without being in hand I believe it was close. Maybe 25$ more on the Celts if there is no damage on them and if they were crafted well. They would make a nice add to anyones collection for sure. I dont like the prices of them either that is why I quit selling them but it is what it is. I feel bad that reproductions are selling for more than the true artifacts now days.

That's probably a good thing.
The peanut gallery will fade away.. and the well documented authentic artifacts will still be available just like they are now .
The prices on those haven't changed much.

You ain't never lied!! Reproductions suck! Well... When used to deceive. Rock, you know the market pretty good it seems. If you aren't the person that cashes in on artifacts, someone else is going to. You seem honest. If artifacts are going to be sold, and they are, honesty people need to control the market. Like honest people shouldn't control every thing. Lol

E-bay prices vs artifact show prices how do they stack up? I take it e-bays way cheaper from what I can see,Also I keep seeing people post the market is flat is that because reproductions are killing the prices or is it the economy or something else?

I base my prices on e-bay being the lowest and then usually go to a higher end site. I usually quote the in between from there. Most field grade points will run between $5-$15 each depending on what it is. You can ask whatever you like but the prices I have given are the sell price and not the I hope somebody falls in love with it price.

does anyone have any idea what the red pigment colored stone is....i was told it is a "paint stone" when i got the collection but not sure if that holds up....have seen them going for alot of money on ebay.

the red stone looks like jasper to me....it is common to see it along with the yellow color.
