Friends found this on their land in Windham, NH. The house was built in 1778.

I have seen that little bottle before but I cant remember what it was used for. I doubt its ink. Is it a cork top? Any embossments on the bottom? It wont hurt to clean it with water.

I don't have the bottle, nor did I take the picture. I texted my friend to clean it, take another photo, and let me know if there are any markings.

Nail polish bottle

Wouldn't be an inkwell, with the bottle neck that narrow. It might be a spice bottle. Need better photos!

I wonder if instead of a bottle it isn't the stopper for a decanter minus the cork.

It's probably either a perfume or nail polish bottle.

If the house hasn't been detected you should get permission! :metaldetector:
