Innerarity/Lafitte/Jackson

Hi Folks,

I'm a radio journalist based in Northwest Florida. For the past year or so, I've been developing an investigative history podcast that touches on a series of closely related local legends that, generally speaking, allege the following:

• John Innerarity, a prominant Scottish merchant active in the early 19th century, was an assumed identity of Jean Lafitte.
• Innerarity and/or Lafitte buried an immense treasure somewhere in the region.
• In some tellings, this treasure was initially held at Fort San Carlos under the protection of corrupt Spanish officials, but was concealed in 1814, before Andrew Jackson laid siege to the fort.
• In some tellings, this treasure was later moved, either to Innerarity Island or to the old Innerarity mansion in downtown Pensacola.

I've amassed an immense body of archival materials related to these legends. However, I'm very interested in meeting others who have gone down this path before me and might be willing to compare notes. To get the ball rolling, here's an interesting tidbit from my files.
