Found this ring on a colonial era farm in Virginia. Looks like the name Joyce is inscribed also looks like it was very crudely done. Thinking this may be pewter? Any idea how old this ring could be?

The script doesn't look very old, and it looks like it was done with a vibratory engraver.

Looks more like a man's ring, what size is it? Perhaps Joyce was a "big boneded Gal". LOL We had a dentist in my town years ago. His last name was Joyce. He never failed to find a cavity and always smelled like whiskey. Tommy always talks about how bad his dentist was. I'd run mine against his and spot him a root canal! Ha!

Those were engraved on site at carnivals. I remember being a kid and seeing them do that at a carnival that came to town long ago.

Looks like silver plated brass
You got it. Cheap crap, but most likely plated with toxic cadmium. Silver would be too expensive.
