THE HAMMER AND AX vs AXE AND AXE --might be for differant rank -- or type -- there might be "sub groups" within the woodsmen of the world -- say like guys who felled trees so that railroad tracks might be laid -- ax for trees , hammer to lay rails ?--while a differant group might be "straight' loggers only - thus only axes? -- or a design differance from area to area or a general change could have occured over the years or it could be a "rank" thing --where a "officer" had one and "enlisted" another
