I'm having a 15" WOT coil, peltor head set and Pin point mods Installed on the Excall 800. Any one have any feed back, If they have done the same mods. I have the 8" and the 10" Excall. I use the 10" more than the 8". Was adding the Wot coil to the 8'' Excall. for more area and depth. Thanks Joe

You won't regret it if you need the coverage, depth wise a few more inch's over the 10. If your hunting a fresh drop beach I don't think there is a better coil, stable in the water also. The PP remote is a killer. Get yourself a good set of Headphones to compliment the PP mode..I would suggest the GGA's.

If you want to sell that little 800 coil let me know, good shape I could use a backup ..My area in the Bay the little 8 is the ticket..

They call those 8 inch Excals BlueTubes, not sure why, all Xcals look the same. My good Bud Clive Clynick uses WOT's on Excals, not sure if he is a member here, but all his coils and Xcals, have waterproof connectors for quick changes. I think he sells the kits for this, if anybody need more info, I can contact him if no-one else knows him here.

Clives Blue tube, just a nick name because from 97 to 2006 they had blue decals...

Streetglide, I have been using WOT coil on one of my excals for 5 years and the SEF 12x15 Butterfly coil on my other excal for 3 years, I love both...

I haven't hunted in the water with anything smaller than 15" coil for 4 or 5 years... I was on beach hunt yesterday for 9 hours swinging both the 15 inch coils...

I always take both with me and do first half of the hunt with one and 2nd half of the hunt with the other. You will quickly fall in love with the pinpoint mods, it so easy to switch modes with thumb switch on the hand grip, you will find hunting in PP (all metal) is deeper, a flick of switch to check discrimination and process...

I can hunt without a harness with the 12 x 15. I can't hunt without a harness with wot. That being said...both great for coverage, and in some instances depth. I found wot noisy, but real signals easy to pick out. It was so noisy that I found it next to impossible to hunt in pinpoint mode. Just couldn't tell a whisper from chatter.

I would consider a harness of some sort. And get used to digging deep...your gonna lose your mind when you have to try an get a dime around 10 inches in rocks/surf. :]

Very noisy on the Excalibur...sensitivity has to be turned down to 2/3 for it to work...best on the GT

My sentiments exactly. I tried a WOT on my excal, and found it very fishy, warbly to use, needed to turn down sens. from where I'd normally have had it set at for normal size coils, etc... And I'm not so sure I was getting more depth on coin sized targets. Perhaps only adding coverage. And pinpointing starts to get fishy, etc... So I took it back off and stayed with the standard coil.

But yes: guys that put them on the Sov GT *DO* in fact get more depth on coin sized targets. Which is strange, because in theory, the Sov & the Excal are supposed to be same thing, right ? (one water proof and the other isn't). So I don't know why the "more depth" would equally apply to the Excal then. But for some reason, I didn't get the feeling I was going any deeper. But I probably just didn't take enough time with it.

I tried my buddies sov/wot combo, and ... sheesk, it takes some definate getting used to. I also tried the thing on a land site, without a pinpointer, and that's a mistake I'll never make again, Doh!

WOT on my excal is very stable, no noise and I hunt in pp... I would check your battery cable or rubber gasket around battery poles, are you using silicone grease, is rubber gasket still good, any corrosion on the poles?

I hunted in salt water with WOT waist to chest deep yesterday with no noise or chatter....

I have used 3 WOTs, still own 2, all 3 been used in salt water, none were noisy...

Joeb, you can not advertise equipment to sale unless your a charter member..

Treasure Hunter, What are you running the sensitivity at on your machine...

Here is a 12 x 15 on the Excalibur I had to turn down the sens to 2/3 to get it to stop false...the deeper you go the worse it gets..goto 2 minutes n video

OBN, I adjust sensitivity on every beach, it is never "one setting fits all" for me. I have the blue excal model, so my settings are clock settings, usually between 11 and 2 depending on conditions..
