i was talking with troy of troy detectors today while we were hunting and he told me a very interesting fact..... when you have cell phone on; especially when you are in the mountains hunting; at some points the phone can NOT receive a signal from a cell tower and it goes blank.... at some point instead of receiving your phone signal it then becomes a TRANSMITTER instead of receiver because it is trying to find a cell tower to communicate with so that you have a signal.... this can cause strange reactions with detectors and cause very erratic behavior causing you to think that the detector is out of GB when it isnt.... long story short it is best not to hunt with a cell phone on at all

Ahhh, but if I turned it off, how would I know when my wife was calling to tell me that I was tired from all that detecting and I wanted to come home? :tongue3:

well, it didn't work when you turned it off.
don't turn it off if it does work!
will not send out a signal. just recieves. much less power drain.
we noticed this when away from service. the power drains faster.
it is looking for mama.
