I was out of town for a week on vacation and got back to town Sunday afternoon. Monday I found these. The first two are out of nice material. I have never found any material like this before. The broken one would have been really nice.

These have fought with the plow.

As I learned wether its right or not is that flint is the same as chert but a lot higher quality type ? Does this sound right

The geologists at the university where I teach say that flint is chert that had organic material in it when it formed.

Americus,

Really cool finds down here and have great workmanship. The material that those points are made of looks like stuff that I would expect to see from North Georgia or the Tennessee area.

It definitely looks like that Tennessee blue material.

Dover flint is normally grey or brown with dark lines but I have seen the blue gray and orange or red colors too the red flint always seems to b broken idk if its more brittle or just me

I just call it grey flint. I dont find much of it either mostly black flint here. You need to find more artifacts made out of it they are very nice looking and a nice change from the normal in your area. Do you think there is a source of it near where you found it or maybe it was traded in?

I found a small source digging a septic system but there sure isn't much here I have a couple pieces ill show you when I get off work

It was found in one of the fields we looked this spring.

These are the only two I have found made out of this material. I would guess it was either brought in or traded into the area.

It looks like TN material IMO. We dont have that grey here. This is the closest to it I have found.
