I went detecting at a ballpark with a friend when I found it. The thing read as a dollar coin on the BH QuickDraw II, but I believe it's made of copper, because the oxidized metal is a greenish color.

It looks like there used to be a pin on the back as well.

The design on the rear is indented, but on the front there are no extrusions except for the waves in front of the castle. I found it in Burbank, California at a baseball field.

Do any of you know what it is or where I could look to find out?

Thanks for reading!

Don't know what its's from, but it's cool looking! Congrats!
A howling wolf on a castle with a river in front or a moat? Certainly interesting. Wonder how old it is?
Somebody on here will know something.

Nice find! Yeah does resemble a army pin design that I found once.

It's the coat of arms for Wolfsburg, Germany. The town was built to house Volkswagen factory workers in 1938 (see Wikipedia.) The emblem you found is probably from a 1960's VW as they adopted it for their vehicles.

I concur with Bullbat, it's off the front end of an older Volkswagen. My brother used to have a '59 Beetle and it had the same emblem on the front.

Thanks so much guys!!! That's definitely it, but I'm unsure about one thing… The back looks vet different on mine compared to the others I have seen.

Here's a comparison:

Thanks again guys! Also, do any of you know if it's possible to straighten out the crest? I'd love to get it flattened out again.

I'm sure you could flatten/straighten it some, but you might lose some more of the porcelain enamel in the process. if it were mine, I might put it between and couple of boards with maybe a dish towel in between as well, and tap gently with a hammer or mallet.
