Dug a rare one in South Carolina this weekend - “Irish Volunteers of Charleston” one piece button with Earl & Lee New York backmark. A very Special thanks to Butch Holcombe, publisher of American Digger Magazine who helped me identify this button! Also a Very Special Thank you to Clyde & Kandi Chilson & Jimmy Zinker for this hunting opportunity!

Congratulations! That's a great button. I did a brief search of the Irish Volunteers and came up with this info that you probably already know.

So what does it take to get a banner find? I’m just curious.

Awesome discovery, and not the first being found it seems.
At the time of the other member there was only 5 documented.

Clearly a really rare button-and in such lovely condition.
This is a top shelf-BANNER recovery for sure. Congrats.

Here's a link to his best find-though he hasn't been around for 6 yrs it seems.

Thank you for posting this, Pepperj. Did you recall reading about this button, or what? Some one like me would never know how rare of a find this is. That being said…….

Spectacular find , @wayfas4u !
