I am currently using an old whites 4900 MD and would like some advice. I live in a house that is over 100 years old, and the field next to me has the remains of a structure that is at least 150 years old. Neither has ever been detected as far as I know. My problem is this: There is so much metal (nails, wire, horseshoes, etc.) that I cannot move 2 inches either way without getting another hit. Also, each hit has 3 or 4 items in it by the time I get all of the stuff out of the hole. I would love to find an old coin in there somewhere, but I may be kidding myself. Is the coin mode on the dfx or 2500 or cortez going to ignore this stuff? I am new to the hobby, and have no experience with the discrimating/ target ID type detectors.
