Iron question?

I own an Ace 350 why when I notch out iron do I get hits like it says I'm hitting on 50 cent pieces? Usually it's large nails or large pieces of iron all rusted stuff. Thanks

Interesting. When i notch out iron i still get a low tone but usually don,t lock on to an i.d. beyond iron. Some iron i need to swing coil off till icon clears.
A bent,(suggesting a round shape)nail or a nail standing on end with head on top,especially one rusted creating a halo on occasion rings as coin. By swinging coil over it from different directions usually gives varied or iffy i.d..
Usually run in jewelry mode and iron not such a distraction. When swinging, iron just a low tone when passed over. Keep swinging. Mid tone i,ll check i.d. or dig. tabs need digging to not miss gold. I get digging tone more than i.d. after awhile. Where a silver rings up or older copper will i.d. just a bit lower than clad and zink. See if you find a sweeter tone when you hit a silver dime. Its out there waiting for you. H.H.
High tone same with more excitement if coin shooting.

If it says 50 cent piece, check the width of the possible coin in pinpoint & if wider than normal, it's trash. You can also raise up coil & if still hearing the beep at a distance beyond which it detects coins, again large junk. The ID is based on conductivity
so is only accurate on coin-sized objects. Best wishes, George (MN)

that is all really good too know because i've had the same issues with my 250. i've now dug up about 50 lbs of large rusty iron. i'll have to try the tips on sizing the object first. thanks
