Hey, I think everyone that had the magazine rack theory might have been on the right track . I stuck a couple of big old books in it . They slide out nice and easy . Maybe it held a special 2 volume set like an Old Testament and a New Testament .The rollers would prevent the bottom of the books from getting worn .
I don't know about the squirrel starting gate theory - seems like thier little feet would get off to a bad start wth the rollers .

anyway I agree with you dg39 ''close enough!!!!!''
