Good will remain the same color in or out of the sun. Fool’s gold in the shade will change color from what I’ve been told. Maybe someone else can give you a for sure on it.

Strong magnet

when you swirl water around the pan, it will be the last particles that move. a rock 10x the size will move first. due to the weight and density of gold.. also, gold will flatten under impact. pyrite will burst..
glad your home safe.. share some pics if you got any you dont mind sharing.

If it looks like low grade gold, it's probably brass... Gold in the pan looks the same as a gold ring. It will stay in with the black sand or iron, but you can't miss it. I don't see any in your pan.

I’m not into the panning for gold dust thing, but I happened to notice it in the puddles and just happened to have my pan handy. I searched up on the south west side for a day. Saw a couple shaded holes but no caves. Worked my way down the wash to Whiskey Springs. Really nice camping area there. In the middle of the night I could smell a cat with that stinking skunk foulness of a creature that never took a bath. Had my Ruger handy just in case. It’s getting hot 🥵 out there now.

gold will not be visible in a water shed unless its trapped on exposed bedrock. the smallest peice of gold is going to sink through the sands. gold is very rarely on top.
