Hello, recently my son and I were kayaking along the Ausable river in the Adirondack mountains and found this rock along the shore line. My thought is it’s a fire starting stone, thought?, A0C04843-AD59-468C-A725-5FE985674443.webp

Yes A fire bearing stone or handhold stone

It is a modern replica you can buy them on Ebay! :tongue3:

<I am KIDDING! :occasion14: :notworthy: :headbang: Neat find looks like the top stone for using the bow-drill, either for fire-making or drilling. My money would go on this being Amerindian.>

How big is it? Does it fit in the palm of your hand or does it take a wheelbarrow to carry it?
