Just went through the latest pair of skunk Fed boxes of halves.....where close to a fourth of the rolls were "tampered" (opened for whatever reason and folded back together.)

The coins are supposed to go from storage container, to rolling machine to box and finally sealed; all without human hands being involved.

It would be one thing if there were ever any keepers in these tampered rolls, but that doesn't happen. Conspiricy-minded me says employees are pulling keepers. If they're actually removing wrongly rolled foreign coins or tokens, in that number; than there's a bigger problem; quality control. Can't believe that many boxes are getting dropped and the rolls are breaking (just on one end). Regardless, we shouldn't be seeing that many tampered rolls. It's supposed to be an automated (human) hands-free process.

Under the guise of the count could be off, or they shouldn't be any tampered with period, is it time yet to bring it to the attention of the bank(s); or am I cutting my nose to spite my face, this is part of the game and I shouldn't make waves ?

Thoughts ?

I really don't think it matters anymore; the SHTF as far as competition goes, it's in all four corners of the ring now, and the more we gripe the more the hobby is brought to the attention of others.

I've had 3 or 4 boxes where the top coin was removed on a roll . Still found keepers in those boxes.

From my experience, this is more likely to happen with Brinks. It comes down to laziness.

When rolls are turned into the bank, the tellers before sending them off in a bag are supposed to take them out of the rolls. Sometimes that just doesn't happen, and the rolls are put in the bag. Sometimes if a large amount come in rolls with the boxes, then they will send them out with the rolls in the boxes. If the tellers had done their job and bagged loose halves then they will indeed go into the hopper and re-rolled and boxed, but if the rolls get to the Brinks center, then the Brinks employees get lazy and just re-box the rolled coins. I've gotten sealed Brinks boxes with customer rolls and not the re-used rolled tubes. Some were split open from being searched so many times. Garbage In, Garbage Out.

The only thing you can do is:

1) Break the cycle and dump the halves loose.

Or

2) Depending on how large (valued) of a customer, you could complain to the bank manager. Banks have a set contract with these services that spell out the fees and services to be rendered. Any deviation from the contract, then the offending party is in breach.

I've gotten rerolled / tampered with CWI rolls in a Brinks box!!! It happened in January and I was dumbfounded :icon_scratch: :icon_scratch:

Again, if a hunter reuses the CWI rolls (unrolling one end; reloading; and fold the open end) and returns a large volume in the boxes, tellers will often send the coins out in the rolls with the boxes to a Brinks center. The employee will circumvent the rolling machine and will re-box the opened rolls. Seal the box and back to the bank it goes. Laziness. Garbage In, Garbage Out.
