Stick a pin in it, if it flakes off then it's not gold.

So ur saying if it scrapes off its not gold

welcome istang,
Does any part of it have a tarnished or discolored look to it? Or is it all a consistant yellow color. Gold does not tarnish. Also as mentioned see if it flakes off at all. If it does it isn't gold. Pics hard to tell but it does look promising.

Good Luck!

no it will scrape off stab it with a stick pin if it flakes like dandruff it is fools gold but you better acid test it BECAUSE it looks like you found some gold baby HH and congrats on your find and if it is not gold then you have one hella of a specimun of fools gold. Anyways it is awwsome find

looks like gold to me. :)

+1 to testing it.

Istang, If it turns out to be the real thing we'll all come to the party! Fools gold(pyrite) will flake off and the real stuff's very soft so squeeze a piece in a pair of pliers, and have it acid tested to be sure!....

Thanks to everyone that replied... I will test and see ... Then retest again... Hope for the best

you can also rub it across a peice of unglazed tile (on the back of a peice) and if its gold, itll have a gold streak, if its fools gold itll have a black streak. this is called a streak test.

Are talking about a price of floor tile... And use the back side of it to scratch it

Rotate it under sunlight and see if there is a drastic change in color as it's rotated. If the color stays the same then it's a good indicator of being gold.

GG~

Does not look like gold to me. Too shiney. TTC

I used the bottom of a coffee mug, just as good as tile if you dont have tile around. :)

If you have stoneware that has an unglazed bottom ring that will work too.
