Found at a site that had a home until 1937. I don't think it's a washer and am leaning toward it being a button, but it is quite thick and heavy compared to standard buttons (18g). Any idea what this could be?

They were also used in the bottom corners of curtins/drapes.

Interesting! If I ever find one, I'll know what it is. They must have been common but I have not detected or seen one before.

If it is made of lead it could possibly be a curtain weight ?
