Actually looks like a nutting stone. Can we get more pix?

That's what I was thinking too.

alaldrid,

Looks like you've got some other goodies to show off as well. I see the frame of points.

I will post more pics tommorow. Its at work. Thanks for the help.

Looks like it could go either way. When you take your pics we will need to see all sides of it. Nice find and that case looks interesting.

I don't think it's a Discoidal. It looks more like a Hammerstone or what some refer to as a Nutting Stone.

Here are some more pics of it. Thanks, for the help.

Thanks all for the help.

I just wanted to go a little bit further on my comment on your frame. The frame looks really good for somebodies collection. You got some real nice ones in there.

Nice find. Probably a nutting stone. The discoidals seem to be dished on both sides.

I live in the piedmont as well. The piece that you have looks like an unfinished discoidal to me. The perfect biscuit shape eliminates nutting stone, for me. The discoids that I have seen here are polished really nice and can be concave on one face, both, or totally flat. They show no evidence of pounding or rubbing, no matter of the style. The nicest ones I have seen were made of jasper. All your piece is missing is a polish and a better uniformed cup in the center. I think unfinished discoidal! Nice find!

I have to agree. After seeing the new pics I believe it may be an unfinished Biscuit Discoidal.

Its hard to see but the back side is concave also but not as prenounced as the the other side.
Thanks.

Rock
Thanks for the compliment on the frame.

Reaper, I'm honored that you even read my post, and to agree!!! I feel like I'm gaining ground! I mean this! Not being a smarty pants! Your backing really makes me feel good!
