This was found on the shore of a river where many many small bird points have been found. The thing is... it has no flaking marks and seems to be made of some kind of shale. It does have a barb on it. I have never seen anything like it. its very sharp and almost feels like crab shell material. The very tip is almost see through. Any ideas?

WOW! Thanks Nick! I would have never even known about such a thing. You are 100% correct. It is no doubt a Gar scale. I guess I will never know if it was used as a arrowhead but it was found in the exact spot where I find many points. thanks a lot man. Big help and fast :D
