Is this a Hessian Button

This is my first button -- dug it out of my backyard, several feet away from an 1822 large cent.

Is this a Rev. War era/Hessian button? There is no identifying mark on either side that I can see (other than the swirl marks on the back). It looks/feels like pewter.

Looks like a Tombac button.

Sorry, to answer your question, it looks like a Hession/Tombac button. They typically have that dull gray finish when dug, and the shanks are quite fragile.
